Student Services and Offices

The following student services and U.C. offices are listed in alphabetical order. Suite numbers correspond to floor numbers (100 - lower level).  Click on the name to go to the web site.

Academic Senate - Suite 108A

The Academic Senate has enjoyed more than a 30-year history as the University's primary policy-making body for a wide range of issues involving academic life at CMU. The senate has a long tradition of productive and open debate and is committed to enhancing the academic experiences of students and faculty. The senate is the final faculty curricular authority of graduate and undergraduate programs, both on-campus and off-campus at CMU.

Campus Dining - Suite 201

Campus Dining is proud to offer one of the best university dining programs around. Their commitment to quality, variety, and flexibility makes the dining experience enjoyable and satisfying. Campus Dining plans exciting, five-star premium special events and Tasters at each of the residential restaurants. Through Campus Dining, students can purchase additional FLEX Dollars for their dining memberships by simply visiting their secure online website at http://cmu.mealplansonline.com.

Campus ID Office - Suite 205

The Campus ID Card Office is responsible for the issuing of the official Campus ID for CMU students, faculty, and staff. The first card you receive is free; permanent and temporary replacement cards are available for a fee -- stop by the office for more information. Other services available from the office are off-campus meal plans, photos for international study visas, and meal plan changes.

Career Services / Orientation / Academic Advising- Suite 215

The primary goal of Career Services is to assist individuals in recognizing career development as a life-long process and to develop decision-making and job search skills, which are useful throughout life. You are encouraged to visit this office to learn more about the wide variety of services that are available to all undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni of Central Michigan University. The Academic Advising Office is also located here and provides additional aid for students with academic concerns.

Central Box Office - Suite 117

The Central Box Office provides tickets for all events on campus and the surrounding areas.

Copy Center - Suite 101

The Copy Center, located in the lower level of the Bovee UC, provides offices with a wide selection of services. The center offers copying services at a low cost as well as finishing services including stapling, collating, tape binding, staple binding, 3-hole drilling and folding (most of these services are only available to those copies run at the center). The Copy Center can also make color copies upon request. Located directly outside of the center are two Xerox copiers that are available at your convenience.

Minority Student Services - Suite 121

Minority Student Services is a comprehensive office that provides academic, personal, social, and cultural support to students. The office ensures the success of all students by assisting them in acclimating to the cultural and racial diversity at Central Michigan University. To empower and retain students, the MSS staff provides and enhances a campus environment where diversity is understood and celebrated.

Multicultural Education Center - Suite 125

The mission of the Multicultural Education Center is to increase the University community's appreciation of diversity through a variety of programs. The center includes a gallery and lounge area as well as a resource area. Members of the community are welcome to come view arts and crafts exhibits, find information on cultural diversity, and meet each other.

MEDIAgraphix - Suite 100

The primary goal of MEDIAgraphix is to provide design services at a low cost for members of the CMU community and beyond. This student-run office (coupled with the support of a professional full-time graphic designer) produces a variety of media. In addition to design, layout, and printing services, MGX also offers finishing services such as large format lamination, wire binding, and image mounting.

Native American Programs - Suite 125

The office of Native American Programs provides assistance to native and non-native American students needing research for classes, information on the CMU Pow-Wow, and the North American Indian Student Organization. The office serves as a source of social, cultural, and academic support for Native American students. Information on scholarships and Native American specific financial aid applications are available.

Office of Residence Life - Suite 201

The Office of Residence Life serves thousands of students, potential students, and their families each year. The office is responsible for assigning over 5,200 students to residence halls and almost 500 students and families to university apartments. In addition to assignments, the office offers help, guidance and answers to the myriad of questions and concerns about residence life.

Office of International Education - Suite 106

The Office of International Education is pleased to offer almost 200 long and short-term study abroad programs in over 50 countries. Study Abroad introduces students to a different higher education system, to the way of life of another culture, and enhances cross-cultural communication skills.

Office of Student Life - Suite 111

The Office of Student Life provides a variety of programs and services to individual students and to student organizations. The office, which oversees several committees and student groups, currently has more than 200 student organizations registered with the University. Students can contact this office to file a class absence report due to extended illness, report sexual assault, report racial and sexual harassment, register for student development workshops and ask general questions about issues related to student life.

Office of the Dean of Students - Suite 214

The Office of the Dean of Students provides coordination of student service programs and serves as an advocate for  students and their academic and non-academic concerns. All students are encouraged to communicate their needs and interests through this office to enhance the quality of programs, services, and student life at Central.

Student Organization Center - Suite 104

The SOC houses the offices of a select group of the 200 Registered Student Organizations on campus. Members of these various groups keep regular office hours and are available to answer questions. Each organization also receives a phone number and mailbox in the SOC so messages can be left if one is able to be presently contacted. For information or questions about the SOC please contact the Office of Student Life.

Student Personnel Services - Suite 206

Student Personnel Services provides referral services for students seeking on- or off-campus employment. Vacant positions are posted outside the office.

Student Service Court & Receivable Accounting - Suite 119

The Student Service Court is a convenient, one-stop service office for all CMU students. Customer service representatives are available to process payments to student accounts and to assist students with scholarship and financial aid questions, as well as class registration questions.

Volunteer Center - Suite 104D

To help students find volunteer opportunities, the University and the local United Way have established a campus Volunteer and Service Learning Center in the Bovee U.C. The center informs students of community service opportunities and refers them to individuals, student groups, and community agencies that need their services.
